JavaScript / Node.js Developer Permanent Location: Cheltenham - hybrid working, two to three days per week onsite Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 plus benefits, including a travel allowance Security clearance: Active SC clearance required Key skills: JavaScript, Node.js, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, Agile and microservices We are looking to recruit a JavaScript / Node.js Developer to join a long-term, fully funded Central Government programme based in Cheltenham. You will work within a collaborative software engineering team, designing, developing and deploying secure, business-critical applications within a modern containerised environment. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite attendance in Cheltenham two to three days per week. Travel expenses will be covered through an agreed travel allowance. The role You will be involved across the full software development lifecycle, with a particular focus on developing back-end services using JavaScript and Node.js and deploying applications within an OpenShift and Kubernetes environment. Responsibilities will include: Designing, developing and maintaining secure software applications and servicesDeveloping back-end services and APIs using JavaScript and Node.jsDeploying and supporting applications within OpenShift and Kubernetes environmentsWorking with Docker and containerised applicationsProducing clean, maintainable and well-tested codeTroubleshooting issues across development, test and production environmentsSupporting continuous integration and deployment processesContributing to technical discussions and engineering decisionsCollaborating with developers, testers, platform engineers and other stakeholdersPromoting software engineering best practice across the team Essential experience Candidates should have strong commercial software development experience, including: JavaScriptNode.jsOpenShiftKubernetesDockerCI/CD toolingDeveloping APIs, services or microservice-based applicationsWorking within Agile software delivery teams You should also have experience developing and supporting enterprise-level applications within containerised environments.
