How Your Resume Is Used

Your Resume, Your Control

At DontApply.Club, we treat your resume with the respect and privacy it deserves. This page explains exactly how we use your resume, what we do with it, and — most importantly — what we never do with it.

1. What We Use Your Resume For

Your resume is used for one primary purpose: to help you find the right job opportunities. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Generate Match Scores: We analyze your skills, experience, and keywords from your resume to calculate how well you fit each job posting.
  • Create AI Prompts: When you request a tailored resume or cover letter, we use your resume content to generate a structured prompt for you to use with your own AI assistant.
  • Identify Skill Gaps: We compare your skills against market demand to suggest areas for development.
  • Personalize Recommendations: We use your resume to show you jobs that are most relevant to your profile.

2. What We NEVER Do With Your Resume

We take your privacy seriously. We never:

  • Share your resume with employers, recruiters, or any third party — ever. Your resume is for your eyes only.
  • Submit your resume to job applications on your behalf — we believe you should be in control of every application.
  • Use your resume to train AI models — your personal data is never used to improve our AI systems.
  • Sell, rent, or monetize your resume data — your data is yours, not a product.
  • Store your resume indefinitely — you can delete it at any time (see Section 5).

3. How We Store Your Resume

Your resume is stored securely in our encrypted database:

  • Secure Storage: All resumes are stored securely in our databases with strict access controls and encryption in transit.
  • Encryption in Transit: Your resume is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS) whenever you upload or download it.
  • Access Control: Only essential personnel with strict permissions can access the database, and all access is logged and audited.
  • Isolation: Your resume is associated with your account and never visible to other users.

4. How AI Processes Your Resume

When we generate match scores or prompts, your resume is processed as follows:

  1. Text Extraction: We extract text from your uploaded resume (PDF or DOCX) using secure libraries.
  2. Anonymized Analysis: The extracted text is analyzed to identify skills, experience, and keywords. This analysis happens within our secure infrastructure and is not shared with third parties.
  3. Prompt Generation: When you request a prompt, we include relevant portions of your resume in the prompt context. The prompt is given to you — you decide whether and how to use it with your AI assistant.
  4. No Training Data: Your resume is never used to train AI models. All processing is transactional — we analyze your data to generate results for you, and nothing more.

5. Your Rights and Controls

You have full control over your resume data:

  • View: You can view your uploaded resumes at any time from your profile.
  • Download: You can download your original resume files whenever you want.
  • Update: You can upload new versions of your resume and delete old ones.
  • Delete: You can delete your resume at any time. Deleted resumes are permanently removed from our active systems.
  • Account Deletion: When you delete your account, all your resumes are permanently deleted.

6. How Long We Keep Your Resume

We retain your resume only as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide our service. You can delete your resume at any time. If you delete your account, all resumes are permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Can I Opt Out?

Yes. You are never required to upload a resume to use DontApply.Club. If you prefer not to upload a resume:

  • You can still browse jobs and view basic information.
  • You can manually add skills to your profile instead of extracting them from a resume.
  • You can delete your uploaded resume at any time from your profile.

However, uploading a resume significantly improves match accuracy and recommendation quality.

8. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate our platform. Your resume data is processed through:

  • OpenRouter (Job Analysis): We send job postings (not your resume) to OpenRouter to extract skills, seniority, remote policy, and other metrics. These metrics are stored and used to calculate match scores against your profile. Your resume is never sent for match scoring.
  • OpenRouter (Prompt Generation): When you request a tailored resume or cover letter prompt, we include relevant portions of your resume in the prompt context. This happens only with your explicit request. Your resume content is transmitted securely and is not stored by OpenRouter.
  • Secure Storage: Your resumes are stored in our encrypted database. We do not use third-party file storage services for resumes.

We do not share your resume with any other third parties. Your resume is never used for training AI models or shared with employers.

9. Children's Data

Our platform is not intended for individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect resumes or personal data from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Data Usage Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices. We will notify you of material changes via email or through a notice on the platform. Your continued use after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
