Please find the job description below Job Title: Senior Frontend Engineer Trade Finance Technology Location: Sydney, Australia Experience: 5+ years Experience & Skills: Experience: 5+ years of frontend software engineering experience in a professional environment, with at least 2 years building complex, data-rich web applications.Modern Frontend Frameworks: Strong proficiency in React (preferred) or Angular — not just component building, but application-level concerns: routing, code organisation, rendering strategies, and state management for large codebases.TypeScript: Strong TypeScript skills — strict typing, generics, type-safe API client consumption, and module patterns for multi-team codebases.State Management: Solid understanding of state management patterns for complex transactional workflows — Redux, Zustand, React Query/TanStack Query, or Angular services/NgRx. Experience managing complex form state with cross-field validation and conditional logic.API Integration: Strong experience consuming REST and/or gRPC APIs from frontend applications — data fetching, caching strategies, error handling, pagination, and real-time data (WebSockets or Server-Sent Events).Responsive & Accessible Design: Good understanding of responsive design principles, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards (mandatory for banking), and cross-browser compatibility.Frontend Testing: Proven testing discipline — unit testing (Jest/Vitest), component testing (React Testing Library/Testing Library), and experience contributing to end-to-end test suites (Playwright or Cypress).Frontend Performance: Understanding of frontend performance optimisation — code splitting, lazy loading, tree shaking, bundle analysis, and runtime performance for data-intensive screens (large tables with sorting/filtering/virtualisation, complex forms with dynamic validation).Build Tooling: Familiarity with modern frontend build tooling — Vite, Webpack, or equivalent. Understanding of module bundling and development server configuration.Version Control: Proficient with Git — branching, rebasing, pull request workflows, and collaborative development in a multi-team environment. Desirable Skills: Design Systems: Experience working within a shared design system and component library — consuming, extending, and contributing components. Experience with Storybook or equivalent component documentation tooling.BFF Pattern: Understanding of the Backend-for-Frontend pattern — how the BFF aggregates, transforms, and caches data from multiple backend services for frontend consumption.Python: Working knowledge of Python for engineering automation, test utilities, data and event validation, mock services, and AI-assisted development workflows. Deep Python application-development expertise is not required.Financial Services: Experience in banking, financial services, or regulated industries — understanding of audit requirements, data sensitivity, compliance-driven UX patterns, and the balance between usability and security.Enterprise UI Experience: Experience building complex enterprise web applications — operational dashboards, workflow-driven screens, multi-step transactional forms, and document management interfaces.Legacy Replacement: Experience replacing legacy desktop or terminal-based applications with modern web interfaces — understanding user resistance, functional parity requirements, and progressive migration approaches.CI/CD: Experience with CI/CD pipelines — building, testing, and deploying frontend applications through automated pipelines.
