Database Platform Engineer Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days per week) Up to £150,000 base + bonus + excellent benefits A leading financial technology firm is looking to appoint an experienced Database Platform Engineer to join its growing Platform Engineering team. Working across both on-premise infrastructure and AWS, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and operating highly available database platforms that support large-scale engineering workloads. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys automation, performance tuning, and solving complex infrastructure challenges. The role Build, operate, and scale enterprise database platformsSupport PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, CockroachDB and other relational database technologiesDevelop automation using Python, Terraform, and AnsibleOptimise database performance, resilience, and scalabilityDesign and improve monitoring, alerting, and platform reliabilityCollaborate closely with software and platform engineering teamsDrive operational excellence across mission-critical database services Requirements Strong experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, CockroachDB or similar database technologiesExperience operating database platforms at scaleStrong Linux and Python skillsInfrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, Ansible or similarKubernetes and container platform experienceAWS experienceStrong understanding of automation and platform engineering principles Package Up to £150,000 base salaryAnnual discretionary bonusHybrid working (3 days per week)Private healthcare30 days annual leaveExcellent pensionLong-term career progression within a highly technical engineering environment If you're looking to join an engineering-first organisation where you'll work on large-scale distributed systems and modern database platforms, I'd be happy to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
