About The Role Hays is partnering with a major public sector organization to support a critical policing system used across the UK. We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps/Platform Engineer to join a dedicated platform team responsible for maintaining and enhancing a complex, large-scale system that combines legacy technologies with modern DevOps practices. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a highly secure environment, supporting frontline operational services that are vital to national safety and security. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of the platform, contributing to the continuous improvement of the system's performance and reliability. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and platform engineering. Relevant qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, or similar are highly desirable. Candidates should have extensive experience with scripting languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell, and familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps. A solid understanding of networking, security protocols, and compliance standards relevant to government and public sector environments is essential. Experience working with legacy systems and integrating them with modern cloud solutions will be an advantage. Responsibilities The primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud-based infrastructure to support the policing system. The engineer will automate deployment processes, monitor system health, and troubleshoot issues across complex environments.
