Staff Back-End Developer Location: Milpitas, CA (hybrid) The digital landscape continues to evolve rapidly, and Arlo remains at the forefront through innovative design and scalable technology solutions. We are seeking a skilled Staff Back-End Developer to join our engineering team and help build mission-critical platforms that power our products and services. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, an analytical mindset, and a natural curiosity for solving complex problems. This individual should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in designing, developing, and optimizing secure, scalable backend systems. This role will have a direct impact on product performance, business success, and customer experience. Key Objectives Collaborate closely with stakeholders, project managers, QA teams, and engineers to deliver against the long-term technology roadmapDevelop and maintain unit, component, and integration testsProduce high-quality, scalable code that elevates team performance and development velocityContribute to architectural decisions and continuous improvement initiatives Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIsWrite clean, maintainable code and associated automated testsBuild prototypes, troubleshoot issues, and analyze system bottlenecksDesign robust RESTful APIs to support mobile and web clientsManage and optimize scalable distributed systems in cloud environmentsImprove application performance, reliability, and scalabilityEnsure security best practices are implemented across backend systems Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science or related fieldStrong foundation in computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and system design8+ years’ experience developing secure, high-performance web applicationsHands-on experience with JavaExperience working with AWS cloud servicesExperience with Git and modern version control practicesExperience with distributed systems and cloud-native technologiesGrowth mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and propose innovative solutions Preferred Qualifications Experience designing RESTful APIs, particularly for mobile applicationsExperience with Kubernetes and containerized deploymentsExperience with DynamoDB or other NoSQL databases The pay range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at commencement of employment and is expected to be between USD$155,000-225,000/year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including role, job-related knowledge, skills, relevant education and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including bonus, equity, and a full range of benefits.
