PL/1 or COBOL developer

Role:PL/1 or COBOL developer Location: Poland Mode of work: 100% remote with in Poland only Employment Type: Contract Duration: 1 year About the project – Maintenance of PL/1 Finance application Required level of language – Excellent command of English Job description: As a PL/1 Developer you are responsible for the technical production maintenance, design and implementation of our PL/1-based business applications. Responsibilities/Tasks: Align with respective product owner and team members to understand the production incidents and business requirements from our customers.Design and Implement Batch applications in PL/1.Consult and Support customers, in terms of the implementation of our insurance softwareUtilize extension patterns offered by our development frameworks properly in order to maintain, customize, replace and extend existing functionalities.Be eager to proactively expand knowledge regarding technologies that help to contribute to the delivery of our technical solutions. Required skills: Very Good Knowledge/Practical Experience working with PL/1 – OR – COBOL / Fortran (with the willingness to learn PL/1).Basic Knowledge about Linux as an OS, standard Linux commands (e.g. vi editor, grep, sudo, netstat, …).Resourceful mindset and problem-solving attitude.Team-minded attitude with great interpersonal skills.Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Nice to Have: Practical Experience with OOP Concepts (Encapsulation, Inheritance vs. Delegation, Access Operators, Simple Design Patterns (e.g., GoF, …)).Practical Experience with technical documentation of batch processes (preferably in Rochade).
