Job Title: Senior Backend Developer – Java & Cloud Skills: Java, Spring boot, microservices, AWS, AI/ML-enabled development or modern developer tools Location: Brisbane Employment Type: Full-Time Experience : 8 + yrs Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer with strong expertise in building scalable, cloud-native, and microservices-based applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in backend development using Java and modern frameworks, along with exposure to distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and cloud platforms. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing backend services for high-performance applications. Key Responsibilities Backend Development Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Java (Spring Boot)Build and deploy microservices-based applications with a focus on scalability and reliabilityWrite clean, efficient, and reusable code following best practicesSystem Design & Architecture Contribute to system design discussions and assist in defining scalable backend architecturesDevelop low-level designs (LLD) and support high-level designs where requiredImplement event-driven and distributed system patterns using tools like KafkaDefine and consume RESTful APIs and integration servicesCloud & DevOps Work with cloud platforms, primarily AWS, to build and deploy applicationsCollaborate in implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation processesSupport containerization and orchestration using KubernetesFollow DevOps and cloud-native engineering best practicesPerformance & Reliability Build systems that are highly scalable, low-latency, and resilientPerform performance tuning, debugging, and optimization of backend servicesEnsure application security, reliability, and fault toleranceCollaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with frontend developers, architects, QA, and DevOps teamsTranslate functional and technical requirements into working solutionsParticipate in code reviews and design discussionsMentorship & Contribution Provide guidance to junior developers and contribute to team knowledge sharingPromote best practices in coding, testing, and documentationSupport a culture of continuous improvement and innovation Required Skills & Experience 8–10+ years of experience in backend developmentStrong hands-on experience in:Java (Spring Boot)Microservices architectureAWS cloud servicesApache Kafka (event-driven systems)
