PowerBI Developer & Data Analyst

Title: Power BI Developer & Data Analyst Location: Hong Kong Experience Required: 5-7 years Role Overview We are seeking a skilled Power BI Developer & Data Analyst to design, develop, and support modern reporting and analytics solutions. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to replace legacy reporting tools with scalable, user-friendly dashboards and data models that enable data-driven decision-making. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that meet evolving business needs and support the transition from legacy reporting platforms.Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather, refine, and translate reporting and visualization requirements into effective analytical solutions.Develop scalable and efficient data models within Power BI that align with both business and technical requirements.Enhance report performance, usability, and accessibility to deliver an optimal user experience.Support solution deployment activities, including testing, documentation, knowledge transfer, and end-user training.Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reporting solutions are aligned with business objectives and data governance standards.Technical Skills & Experience Power BI Dashboard Development Extensive experience designing and developing interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query, and custom visualizations.Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) to support data governance, security, and compliance requirements.Ability to create intuitive and visually compelling reports that drive business insights.Data Integration & Data Modeling Experience connecting, transforming, and modeling data from multiple sources, including SQL databases, Excel files, APIs, Lakehouse environments, and other enterprise platforms.Strong understanding of ETL processes, data transformation, and data preparation techniques.Ability to design scalable semantic models that support enterprise reporting and self-service analytics.Data Quality & Validation Experience implementing data validation controls and business-rule checks to ensure reporting accuracy and reliability.Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate and reconcile data discrepancies across multiple systems and sources.Commitment to maintaining high standards of data integrity and reporting quality.Documentation & User Enablement Proven ability to produce and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation, including:Data model documentationReport and calculation logicUser guides and training materialsExperience enabling business users through self-service analytics capabilities.Skilled in delivering user training, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions.Platform & Collaboration Skills Experience working collaboratively across business, IT, and operational teams.Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Power BI integration frameworks.Understanding of source control practices, version management, and collaborative development using shared repositories.Industry Knowledge Experience within retail, point-of-sale (POS), or related customer-facing industries is preferred.Understanding of retail data flows, operational reporting, and performance analytics is advantageous.Candidates with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to rapidly learn new business domains will also be considered.Behavioral Competencies Business Acumen & Analytical Thinking Ability to quickly understand business objectives, operational processes, and reporting requirements.Capable of translating complex datasets into actionable insights and meaningful business narratives.Strong analytical mindset with attention to both detail and business impact.Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proactively engages with stakeholders to clarify requirements, present solutions, and incorporate feedback.Able to explain technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner for non-technical audiences.Ownership & Accountability Demonstrates accountability for the full reporting lifecycle, from requirements gathering through development, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.Consistently delivers high-quality solutions that meet business expectations and project timelines.Adaptability & Continuous Improvement Comfortable working in dynamic environments with changing priorities and requirements.Maintains a continuous learning mindset and stays current with new Power BI features, data technologies, and analytics best practices.Actively identifies opportunities to improve reporting processes, user experience, and overall solution effectiveness.
