Title: Director of Engineering (Hands-On)

What You'll Be Doing
You'll report directly to the CTO.
This isn't a role where you step back from the tools - expect to spend real time writing code, setting the technical example, and sitting in on client conversations to keep delivery on track.
Building & Architecting
Write production code (Ruby on Rails), owning complex architecture problems and the features that matter mostShape the technical approach for new capabilities - design, scoping, and early prototypesChase down the messy, unowned issues that slip through the cracks until they're solvedKeep quality, performance, and security standards high across everything you ship
Working With Clients
Be the go-to technical contact for major accounts, turning their needs into working solutionsTeam up with Product to keep the roadmap realistic and grounded in what's technically achievableKeep everyone in the loop internally and with clients on what's going well and where the risks are
Leading the Team
Line-manage 3-5 junior and mid-level engineers: regular check-ins, coaching, and honest feedback that helps them growSpot and fix friction in how the team works, so delivery gets faster and clearer over timeHelp shape a culture that values speed, learning from mistakes, and staying close to what customers actually needGet involved in hiring as the team continues to grow
