TrashLab is building the AI-native operating system for waste and recycling haulers across the United States and Canada. Waste hauling is a critical $100B+ industry that still relies heavily on fragmented, outdated software. TrashLab replaces those legacy systems with one modern platform spanning CRM, billing, dispatch, routing, scale-house operations, recycling workflows, driver tools, customer portals, and AI-powered automation. Since launching, TrashLab has expanded into more than 40 states and serves hundreds of waste haulers. The company recently completed its Series A, has raised $11 million, and is growing approximately three times year over year. Today, TrashLab is a team of approximately 20 people, with plans to continue growing rapidly. You will work directly with waste haulers to understand how their businesses operate, identify problems that technology can solve, and turn customer feedback into polished production features. This is a high-ownership role for an engineer who is comfortable working across the stack and taking products from initial discovery through deployment. The right person combines strong engineering ability with excellent product judgment, customer empathy, and an appreciation for thoughtful design. You'd join a 15-person team defining what modern hauler software looks like for the next decade in a $100B+ category.Product Engineer role, hybrid in SF (4 days/week). $190K–$270K base + equity + 3-step interview process. You'll talk directly to customers and own entire products end-to-end. What You’ll DoOwn products and features from customer discovery through design, development, testing, and production deployment.Spend meaningful time with customers to understand their workflows, operational challenges, and business priorities.Translate customer feedback into intuitive, reliable, and scalable product solutions.Build full-stack applications supporting complex workflows across billing, CRM, dispatch, logistics, routing, and field operations.Develop AI-powered features and agents that automate repetitive operational work.Collaborate closely with sales, customer success, product, and the founding team to prioritize high-impact problems.Maintain a high standard for engineering quality, product design, and customer experience.Improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of the platform as the company grows.Move quickly while maintaining clean, tested, and maintainable code.Help establish the technical and product standards that will guide the next stage of TrashLab’s growth.What We’re Looking ForThree or more years of professional software engineering experience.Experience building and shipping full-stack B2B SaaS products.Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript.Demonstrated ownership of products or substantial features from concept through production.Experience building complex workflow-driven applications.Strong product instincts and attention to user experience.Comfort speaking directly with customers and translating business problems into technical solutions.Ability to work independently in an environment with limited structure and significant ownership.A track record of moving quickly without compromising engineering quality.Genuine interest in applying AI to operational, real-world industries.Strong Additional SignalsExperience at an early-stage or rapidly growing startup.Experience building vertical SaaS products.Exposure to logistics, transportation, field services, construction, manufacturing, fintech, or other operational industries.Experience building AI-powered applications, agentic workflows, or automation products.Strong frontend and product-design judgment.Experience working with billing, payments, routing, CRM, or dispatch systems.Founder, founding-engineer, or early-employee experience.How TrashLab WorksTrashLab is a small, ambitious team where employees have substantial ownership and direct access to the CEO and founding team.
