Job Description This role is based in the United Kingdom and as such all normal working days must be carried out in the United Kingdom. Join us as an Infrastructure Engineer, Mainframe Capacity You'll engineer infrastructure technology for public and private cloud environments, complying with security, resilience, sustainability, and operational requirements with observability and guardrails built inYou'll also use automation to provide testing and a route to live for the product, working with customers to help them use our products appropriately through a users' CI or CD pipelineThis is a chance to work with colleagues across the bank to share engineering best practices, allowing you to expand your network and gain exposure for you and your work What You'll Do As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll contribute to and manage the selection, creation and maintenance of technologies required to meet the needs of our customers, strategic targets and architecture outcomes, along with developing products using modern engineering practices and tools. We'll look to you to collaborate with stakeholders to inform product roadmaps, detailing lifecycles of the technology from new products through to end of support and retirement. You'll also support engineered products and respond to user feedback, new feature requests and resolve production issues wanted by the Product Owner. Additionally, You'll Develop technical skills through continuous learning and developmentWork within a team to design intuitive, self-service infrastructure productsContribute to the delivery of infrastructure as code solutionsWork with users to help use our products and gain feedbackProvide operational support for pattern or product related issuesGenerate innovative ideas and drive the delivery of those through product features The Skills You'll Need To thrive in this role, you'll have experience in software development or automation scripting such as Python or Shell, with an understanding of the software development lifecycle. You'll also have experience in utilizing modern infrastructure as code via tooling. We'll expect you to bring a good understanding of Agile working practices and toolsets with the ability to relate everyday work to the vision of the feature team, platform and domain. Furthermore, You'll Need Strong understanding of mainframe resource utilisation including CPU, MSU, memory, DASD, I/O and network performanceExperience analysing RMF, SMF and other mainframe performance data to identify trends, risks and optimisation opportunitiesKnowledge of Workload Manager (WLM) concepts and their impact on service delivery, performance and capacity managementExperience using mainframe performance and capacity tooling such as RMF, IntelliMagic, or equivalentExperience of using observability tools and techniques and the ability to use data, information and user sentiment to continuously improve solutionsPublic cloud vendor knowledge covering GCP, AWS and AzureExperience of working with technology deployed to an on premise datacentreAn understanding of a DevOps mind-set, collaboration, automation and tooling
