Senior DevOps Engineer Infrastructure and Platform Engineering Remote (Canada) | Full Time The Role We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to strengthen and expand the engineering infrastructure that powers our platform and the operations of the customers who rely on it. This is a dual mandate role, combining hands on technical contribution with team leadership, reporting into senior technical leadership. The right fit for this role will act as the functional lead for a team of DevOps professionals, setting best practices, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring CI/CD pipelines are reliable enough to be trusted by the key customers we are actively expanding with. The role is built to keep you close to the technology while helping you build a team that can operate independently. Key areas of responsibility include: Leading and developing a team of DevOps professionals, setting technical direction, establishing best practices and actively mentoring junior engineersMaintaining and improving CI/CD pipelines across desktop, server (Windows and Linux) and multi cloud environments, reducing technical debt and driving pipeline reliabilityActing as the front line for build and pipeline issues across a codebase that is primarily C++, including compiling, debugging and troubleshooting builds, and maintaining the open source C++ libraries the codebase depends onMaintaining and optimising Linux production environments relied on by key customers, ensuring pipeline stability and runtime performance across distributed workloadsDeploying and operating solutions across multiple cloud providers, maintaining multi cloud, multi platform environments with a focus on reliability, scalability and securityDesigning and building high quality tools for testing, deployment and automation using Python and shell scriptingDiagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure, build and pipeline issues through research, debugging and investigation, providing hands on support to unblock the wider teamCreating technical design documentation aligned with architecture standards and driving engineering best practices across the team and wider organisation About You The right fit for this role will have: Five or more years in a DevOps, build engineering, platform engineering or release engineering role, with a track record of owning pipelines end to endHands on, day to day proficiency with a major cloud based DevOps platform, covering pipelines, work management and release processesDemonstrated experience compiling C++ applications, managing dependencies and debugging build pipelines (CMake, GCC or similar), including patching and maintaining open source C++ libraries and handling version management and cross platform considerationsAdvanced Linux expertise, including system level troubleshooting, package management, environment configuration and shell scripting, with genuine comfort operating in production environmentsStrong Python proficiency for automation, tooling, data processing and DevOps workflow integrationProven experience deploying and operating across multiple cloud platforms, including comfort with multi cloud architectures and serverless deployment patternsHands on experience with containerisation and microservices architectures, and their integration into automated pipelinesExperience leading, mentoring or guiding other engineers, even informally. A formal management title is not required, but a genuine record of helping others grow isStrong verbal and written English, with the ability to translate technical complexity clearly for engineering peers and stakeholders Nice to have: Background in geospatial, earth observation or remote sensing, including familiarity with the scale and processing demands of large imagery datasetsExperience building and packaging C++ applications for both x86 and ARM, including cross compilation workflows, toolchain configuration and architecture specific optimisationHands on C++ application level development beyond build systems, including debugging and performance tuningKnowledge of relational databases and their integration within distributed systems The Company This is a growing technology team building infrastructure that supports a platform used by customers with genuinely demanding, large scale processing needs.
