About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our high-performing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team.
In this role, you will be instrumental in the development, operation, and continuous improvement of our cloud-based infrastructure that supports over 6,000 EDEKA stores across Germany.
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the stability, performance, and security of our infrastructure, which includes a complex network of over 30,000 mobile devices and cash registers communicating via cloud backend systems.
You will work in a collaborative environment, contributing to the ongoing evolution of our microservices architecture within Azure, utilizing tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
This position offers flexibility regarding location, with potential assignments in Hamburg, Mannheim, Minden, or Würzburg, and provides an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the future of retail technology.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a degree or vocational training in (Business) Informatics or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
You should have a strong enthusiasm for automation and cloud infrastructure management.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure is essential, along with hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code, preferably with Terraform.
Familiarity with current CI/CD tools and processes is required, along with practical experience in container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
You should be comfortable working with network protocols such as TCP/UDP, DNS, and gRPC.
Proficiency in German, both spoken and written, at CEFR level C1 or higher, is necessary to effectively collaborate within our team and communicate with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, your core responsibilities will include ensuring the quality, stability, and performance of our cloud platform and services as part of a five-member team.
You will contribute to the development of a scalable, container-based Kubernetes microservice platform and monitor the platform’s components using tools like Datadog.
Your role will involve managing the security lifecycle of our infrastructure, troubleshooting incidents, and implementing proactive solutions to prevent outages.
You will collaborate closely with development teams and other cloud specialists to optimize infrastructure and deployment processes.
Additionally, you will support the integration of mobile retail and checkout systems into a unified "One Team" environment, fostering a user-centric and agile approach.
Your expertise will help maintain our high standards of security and operational excellence, ensuring seamless service delivery across our extensive retail network.
