Description

Opportunity Over 70 years ago, Hitachi Energy introduced a new way of transmitting electricity across long distances with minimum losses – High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC). We can now deliver up to 12 gigawatts of power at voltage levels of up to 1100 kV, covering distances of more than 3,000 kilometers. Also, HVDC is key enabler for integrating renewable sources like offshore wind farms in continental power grid. Our R&D engineers and scientists develop breakthrough technologies that change the way the world works, and industries do business. Now we are looking for enthusiasts who would like to strengthen our growing team in Hitachi Energy Technology Center in Krakow, contributing to the heart of HVDC station: Modular Advanced Control for HVDC (MACH™). That control system is designed to run 24/7 for thirty years or more, handling for all control and protection functions. Development in Krakow covers High-Speed digital control boards, I/O Measurements systems and Power Electronics control & protection circuits. As a part of global R&D organization you will cooperate on daily bases with colleagues from MACH™ teams in Sweden and India, all working under same Agile framework (SAFe), developing End-to-End solutions integrating electronic hardware, FPGA, and embedded software. You will join Digital HW Electronics team lead by Michal Kamon, applying your knowledge and skills in technology and/or product development. You will see how your personal efforts converted to real products, impacting evolution of electrical grids, making it more green, reliable, and resilient. You will work in comfortable office with great transport communication (near central station), with modern equipment in our brand-new on-site laboratory area. Our organization will support your competence development, knowledge sharing, work-life balance, harmony of diversity. Our teammates are open-minded, friendly, and working in good spirit. How You'll Make An Impact Participate in the full lifecycle of HVDC control and protection hardware: requirements, simulations, prototyping, testing, release and sustaining production.Ensure system integrity by working closely with hardware, software, FPGA and product verification teams.Contribute to design-for-testability, verification strategy, schematics/layout reviews and product release activities.Plan, execute and document integration, verification and validation of electronic platforms and subsystems.Develop, maintain and improve lab test setups, test benches and HIL environments.Create and maintain automated test solutions, scripts and validation tools using Python, LabVIEW, Robot Framework, NI TestStand or similar.Support Continuous Integration / Continuous Testing pipelines to improve test coverage, repeatability and efficiency.Perform troubleshooting, failure analysis and root-cause investigations for lab, integration and field issues.Prepare and manage technical documentation while following Hitachi Energy values of safety and integrity. Your Background Hands-on experience in hardware development, prototyping, testing, or end-to-end engineering projects.Strong understanding of electronic schematics, circuit design, simulation, and hardware development tools (e.g., SPICE, Altium, CADSTAR).Practical experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and communication interfaces (fiber optic or copper-based systems).Knowledge of HIL, SIL, simulation-based validation, and test setup definition based on requirements and product specifications.Experience with test automation and scripting using tools such as Python, LabVIEW, NI TestStand, Robot Framework, or similar; basic C/C++ knowledge is an advantage.Familiarity with CI/CD environments (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and continuous testing practices.Understanding of quality, reliability, and compliance topics, including DFMEA, EMC, signal/power integrity, product certification, and workplace safety practices.Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical documentation.Self-motivated and collaborative team player with strong communication skills, English at B1 level or higher; ISTQB, LabVIEW certification (CLD), or equivalent practical experience is a plus.
