Role Overview
The Lead VDC Coordinator is responsible for managing and implementing digital construction processes, primarily leveraging BIM (Building Information Modelling), to support project delivery.
This leadership role coordinates multidisciplinary design teams, ensures model integration, and drives innovation across construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
VDC / BIM LeadershipLead the implementation of VDC/BIM strategies across projectsDevelop and enforce BIM Execution Plans (BEP)Set project standards for modelling, coordination, and digital deliveryMentor and manage junior VDC coordinators and BIM technicians Model Coordination & Clash DetectionOversee federated model development across disciplines (Architectural, Structural, MEP)Conduct clash detection using tools like Navisworks, Revizto, or SolibriChair coordination meetings and track issue resolutionEnsure models are aligned with project timelines and deliverables Stakeholder CollaborationCollaborate with:Design consultantsContractors and subcontractorsProject managers and site teamsAct as primary point of contact for all BIM-related queries Digital Construction & InnovationPromote adoption of digital tools (e.g., drones, 4D/5D simulation, digital twins)Support construction sequencing (4D scheduling)Assist quantity take-offs (5D BIM)Evaluate and integrate new technologies Quality Assurance & Data ManagementEnsure models comply with company and client BIM standardsMaintain Common Data Environment (CDE) (e.g., BIM 360, ACC, ProjectWise)Perform model audits and QA checksManage version control and data integrity Reporting & AnalysisTrack BIM KPIs and project performance metricsProvide regular reports to project leadershipHighlight risks and opportunities related to digital delivery
️ Required Skills & Competencies Technical Skills
Advanced knowledge of:Autodesk RevitNavisworks / SolibriBIM 360 / Autodesk Construction CloudStrong understanding of:ISO 19650 standardsBIM workflows and coordination processesExperience with 4D/5D tools (Synchro, CostX, etc.) is a plusFamiliarity with scripting (Dynamo, Python) beneficial
Leadership & Soft Skills
Strong leadership and mentoring abilityExcellent communication and stakeholder managementProblem-solving and analytical thinkingAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Qualifications
Degree in:Construction ManagementEngineering (Civil, Structural, MEP)Architecture or related disciplineBIM/VDC certifications (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional) preferred
Experience
Typically 7–12+ years in construction/designAt least 3–5 years in BIM/VDC leadership rolesProven experience delivering large-scale projects (commercial, residential, infrastructure)
