The platform supports smarter farming decisions, from optimizing pesticide and herbicide use to maintaining regulatory compliance. FarmMind helps construct complete crop management strategies based on leading research, making farm planning more efficient, effective, and accessible. Team members collaborate at the intersection of AI and agriculture to deliver technology that directly improves real-world farming outcomes. Role Description The Software Developer will design, build, and maintain features for FarmMind’s platform. GIS experiance is a big plus. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing backend and frontend components, integrating data sources and APIs, writing clean and testable code, and troubleshooting production issues. The role also involves collaborating with product, data, and agricultural experts to translate user needs into technical solutions, participating in code reviews, and improving system performance and reliability. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Baton Rouge, LA, with a mix of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. Qualifications Experience building with GIS systems is a big plusStrong software engineering skills, including proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#) and experience with version control (e.g., Git).Experience with web application development, such as building RESTful APIs, working with backend frameworks, and developing user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular).Familiarity with data systems, including relational or NoSQL databases, data modeling, and integrating third-party APIs or data pipelines.Understanding of software quality practices, including unit and integration testing, debugging, code reviews, and basic CI/CD workflows.Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and work independently in a hybrid environment.Nice to have: experience with AI/ML systems, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), or prior work in agriculture, environmental science, or related domains.
