This is a high-impact role at the heart of a large-scale cloud migration and service mesh initiative — building the internal developer platform that hundreds of engineers depend on daily. The Details 📍 Location: Sydney, NSW (must be locally based) 📅 Start: Immediate ⏳ Contract Length: 6 months About You You are a highly skilled Platform Engineer who takes pride in building platforms that developers genuinely love. You pick up new languages and tools with ease, care deeply about quality, and bring the same energy to automation and documentation as you do to the code itself. You're comfortable working across large, complex codebases and enjoy contributing to a broader technical community. Key Responsibilities Design and build a world-class internal developer platform underpinning a mission-critical microservices environment Drive cloud migration of a large-scale platform, including creation of a full service mesh Develop automations, archetypes, and tooling to accelerate developer productivity and platform adoption Improve build processes, libraries, and developer toolchains across a large engineering community Facilitate clear communication within and across teams, keeping stakeholders informed throughout Contribute to and help grow a vibrant internal technical community Required Experience & Skills 3–5+ years of experience as a polyglot engineer across multiple languages and stacks Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform — Azure or AWS Hands-on experience with containerized workloads in Kubernetes, preferably including service mesh technologies Passionate about system automation — Python and Ansible experience highly regarded Strong understanding of Continuous Delivery and Deployment practices at scale Solid knowledge of security practices, patterns, and technologies Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and the full path to production A self-sufficient and resourceful operator who works efficiently under pressure and delivers without the need for hand-holding Active participation in the broader technical community — MeetUps, open-source contributions, or side projects highly regarded Qualifications Must be located in Sydney with full working rights. A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is advantageous.
