We are currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join a high-performing engineering squad working within a critical payments platform. This is an opportunity for a hands-on API Automation specialist who thrives in complex backend environments and enjoys building quality practices from the ground up. The Opportunity You will join a small, highly collaborative squad consisting of 4–5 developers, acting as the sole Quality Engineer within the team. This is an individual contributor role with QE Lead-level seniority, focused on driving quality across a backend services ecosystem that integrates with multiple systems including BFF layers, payment platforms, and enterprise backend services. This is not a Selenium or UI testing role. We are looking for someone with deep API testing expertise and strong Java automation capabilities. What You'll Be Doing Design, build, and maintain API automation frameworks using Java and REST AssuredPerform hands-on API testing across complex backend integrationsExecute manual API testing using Postman when requiredBuild automation solutions from scratch where no framework currently existsExtend and improve existing automation frameworks and test coverageDrive an automation-first approach across the squadCollaborate closely with developers, architects, product teams, and stakeholdersIdentify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and delivery outcomesManage test data and environment requirements proactivelyContribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Quality Engineering practices Mandatory Skills & Experience Strong experience in API Testing (manual and automation)Advanced Java programming skillsProven expertise with REST AssuredStrong experience with PostmanExperience building automation frameworks from scratchAbility to enhance and maintain existing automation frameworksStrong understanding of modern software delivery practices and Agile environmentsExcellent stakeholder engagement and communication skillsSelf-driven and capable of working independently within a squad environment Highly Desirable Experience within Payments, Banking, or Financial Services domainsExperience using GitHub Copilot or AI-assisted engineering toolsExposure to complex enterprise integration environmentsPassion for driving automation and engineering excellence What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who believes automation is the default, not an afterthought.
