About The Role
Ring is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join the Persistent Connection Service team.
In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the core socket services that facilitate device connectivity for millions of Ring devices worldwide.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams across software, firmware, and product domains, leveraging AWS technologies to address complex distributed systems challenges.
The Persistent Connection Service is a mission-critical component that maintains persistent, reliable connections between devices and the cloud, enabling real-time two-way communication essential for device functionality and security.
Your contributions will directly impact the scalability, availability, and resilience of Ring’s infrastructure, supporting the company’s mission to keep families safe and connected through innovative smart home solutions.
Qualifications
5+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship)Proficiency in at least one programming language with 5+ years of experienceExtensive experience in system design or architecture, including design patterns, reliability, and scalabilityExperience in leading design initiatives or managing engineering teams as a mentor or tech leadBachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent fieldFamiliarity with full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, testing, and deploymentExperience working with distributed systems, fault-tolerant architectures, and cloud services such as AWS
