Summary

Lead a newly formed Platform Engineering team and define the technical direction of an internal developer platform. You will own infrastructure automation and CI/CD, drive modernization from legacy virtualization toward Kubernetes, improve self-service capabilities, optimize platform costs, establish engineering standards, and manage technology vendors. The role requires several years of leadership experience in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering, deep Kubernetes and Linux expertise, and strong stakeholder communication. Fluent Dutch and proximity to Amsterdam are required.

Description

Platform Engineering Manager – Kubernetes | IaC | DevOps | Amsterdam [€110K] [IT Integration / Data / SaaS] Two teams are merging into one. The InfraOps team and the Product Reliability team are being combined into a single Platform team, and they need someone to build it into something that actually works. Not a process manager. A technical leader who can shape what the platform becomes. My client is a Dutch specialist in IT integration, data management and API solutions, active for twenty years and working with more than 400 organisations across government, healthcare, finance and education. With over 180 colleagues and offices acrosse the Netherlands, they are a stable and growing company that takes engineering seriously. The engineering department is transitioning to a DevOps model. The new Platform team, made up of 6 infrastructure engineers, 4 platform engineers and a cloud architect, will own the Internal Developer Platform and serve around 20 development engineers. The infrastructure runs on Linux, VMware and Kubernetes, hosted at LeaseWeb datacenters in the Netherlands. What you will do You lead the new Platform team and set the technical direction. You own the IDP, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation. You drive the migration away from VMware, bring Kubernetes and Elastic management in-house, and reduce platform costs. You introduce self-service capabilities for developers, set standards and processes, and manage vendor relationships including LeaseWeb. You work closely with the Head of Technology and collaborate with the development teams to make sure the platform actually serves their needs. Your profile Several years of experience leading platform engineering, infra or DevOps teamsStrong technical background in Kubernetes, Linux and virtualizationProven ability to manage change, build team structures and set direction in a transitioning organisationComfortable communicating with vendors and senior stakeholdersFluent Dutch speaker, based in or near Amsterdam What is in it for you Salary around €110K per year, depending on experience.
