Digital Forensics Research and Development Engineer – North Somerset – Hybrid – Permanent 37.5 hours per week – £35,000 - £45,000 per annum – SC Clearance Our client is looking for a Digital Forensics Research and Development Engineer to join their team in Weston-super-Mare. You'll be working across a variety of fascinating projects — developing prototypes, proving concepts, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in digital forensics. Experience within Research and Development projects is required. Working Patterns and location – Hybrid – 3 days on site per week The Key Responsibilities of a Digital Forensics Research and Development Engineer: Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrators across a range of digital forensics projects.Conduct research into new project areas and assess technical feasibility.Communicate research findings clearly to clients, both verbally and in writing.Write software in Python, C and C++ to support research and development activities.Investigate mobile networks, protocols and security architectures as part of ongoing R&D.Support eDiscovery activities and contribute to digital investigation capabilities.Keep up to date with developments in digital forensics, cyber security and mobile technologies.Produce clear technical documentation to support research outputs and client deliverables. Below is a list of Key Skills required for a Digital Forensics Research and Development Engineer, however you will not be expected to have everything: Thorough understanding of mobile networks and communication protocols.Hands-on software development experience in Python, C and C++.Strong knowledge of VPNs, WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC technologies.Good understanding of mobile security architectures and trust certificates.Experience with cyber security incidents and incident response.Experience working on research and development projects from concept through to prototype.Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.Self-motivated and intellectually curious, with a commitment to ongoing CPD. The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential: eDiscovery experience within a digital forensics or legal technology context.Degree educated in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.Familiarity with digital forensics tools and investigation methodologies.Experience working in a defence, intelligence or government-facing environment.
