OpenShift Platform Administrator / Senior OpenShift Engineer
Department: Infrastructure & Platform Engineering
Purpose of the Role
Technology organization that is responsible for developing and operating the platforms that power the airline business, including Reservations, Flight Operations, Cargo Management, Digital Channels, and other mission-critical systems.
We are seeking an experienced OpenShift Platform Administrator / Senior OpenShift Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms.
The successful candidate will be responsible for platform administration, automation, security, monitoring, and operational support across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
This role requires deep technical expertise in Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Linux administration, containerization technologies, and DevOps practices to ensure highly available, secure, and scalable container platforms.
Key Responsibilities
OpenShift & Kubernetes Administration
Deploy, configure, administer, upgrade, and maintain Red Hat OpenShift clusters.Manage cluster lifecycle activities including installation, patching, scaling, backup, recovery, and migrations.Administer Kubernetes resources including Pods, Deployments, StatefulSets, DaemonSets, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, and Secrets.Ensure platform availability, reliability, and performance across production and non-production environments.Linux & Container Platform Management
Administer and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.Manage container technologies including Docker, Podman, CRI-O, and related runtimes.Perform system configuration, performance tuning, patch management, and shell scripting.Infrastructure Automation & DevOps
Develop and maintain automation using Ansible and/or Terraform.Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives to standardize platform deployments.Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Tekton, Git, ArgoCD, and GitOps methodologies.Automate platform provisioning, deployment, configuration, and operational tasks.Monitoring & Observability
Configure and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.Utilize tools such as Prometheus and Grafana to ensure platform observability.Analyze system performance metrics and proactively address potential issues.Develop dashboards and reports for infrastructure health monitoring.Networking & Storage Administration
Manage Kubernetes networking, ingress controllers, routes, DNS, load balancing, and network policies.Troubleshoot connectivity and application communication issues across clusters.Implement and support Persistent Volumes (PV), Persistent Volume Claims (PVC), Storage Classes, and CSI drivers.Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure seamless storage integration.Security & Governance
Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and authentication integrations.Configure security policies, certificate management, network segmentation, and platform hardening.Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and best practices.Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation activities.Production Support
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 operational support for production OpenShift environments.Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and problem management processes.Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation.Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge repositories.Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting OpenShift platforms in VMware, AWS, Azure, GCP, or Hybrid Cloud environments.Strong understanding of enterprise platform architecture and container orchestration best practices.Experience with high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.Hands-on experience with GitOps operating models.Exposure to enterprise ITIL processes and platform governance frameworks.Experience creating SOPs, runbooks, operational procedures, and technical documentation.Certifications (Preferred)
