The role
We are looking for a DevOps / Backend Infrastructure Engineer to help us operate and improve our production infrastructure.
We run several Linux servers with Docker Compose, Go backend services, Postgres/TimescaleDB, rsync-based data sync and large volumes of wearable-device time-series data.
Your mission is to make production reliable and boring: clean servers, safe deployments, tested backups, clear monitoring, controlled secrets, documented runbooks and calm debugging when something breaks.
We need someone very attentive and careful - someone we can trust not to break production through rushed or undocumented changes.
What you will own
· Manage Linux servers in production: SSH access, users, permissions, firewalls, updates, logs, configs, backups and data folders.
· Maintain Docker Compose setups for backend services, databases, workers and monitoring.
· Improve the deployment flow from Git to server, including safe restart/update procedures, staging/production separation and rollback paths.
· Operate Postgres and TimescaleDB in production: backups, tested restores, migrations, indexes, query performance, vacuum/analyze, disk usage, connection limits and storage growth.
· Support high-volume time-series data flows from wearable devices, including retries, delayed uploads, duplicates, missing data, idempotency, retention and long-term storage costs.
· Maintain rsync-based sync jobs where needed and clearly separate sync, backup, replication and archive concepts.
· Organize environment files and secrets safely, prevent secrets in Git and manage production/staging/dev configuration separately.
· Set up monitoring and alerts for servers, Docker containers, APIs, databases, queues, backups, disk growth and production errors.
· Improve security basics: SSH keys, least-privilege users, firewall rules, exposed ports, database access, updated images and simple incident response procedures.
· Improve CI/CD via GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or similar, including build/test checks, migrations, deployments and rollback readiness.
· Support Go backend services enough to build, run, debug and profile APIs, workers, cron jobs, queues and migrations.
· Write runbooks and documentation so the system does not depend on only one person.
What we are looking for
· Solid Linux server administration experience.
· Strong Docker and Docker Compose experience.
· Production Postgres experience, including backup and restore.
· Basic networking, DNS, TLS/SSL, reverse proxies and firewall understanding.
· Git and CI/CD experience.
· Monitoring/logging setup experience.
· Security fundamentals and a careful mindset around production systems.
· Ability to debug production issues calmly and systematically.
· Enough Go understanding to build, run and debug backend services.
· Clear written documentation habits.
Very useful extras
· TimescaleDB experience, including hypertables, retention policies, compression and continuous aggregates.
· Experience with time-series, IoT or wearable-device data.
· Go backend performance profiling.
· Ansible or Terraform.
· Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and Alertmanager.
· S3-compatible storage for backups.
· Redis, NATS, RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar queue systems.
· Experience moving from manual servers toward more automated infrastructure.

Compensation
For this full-time role, the gross monthly salary is EUR 4,643, paid 14 times (EUR 65,000 gross annually).
