Freelance Java Developer

For one of our clients in South Holland, we are looking for an experienced Freelance Java Backend Engineer / Senior Software Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering software components within a complex, event-driven platform. You will join a close-knit team and have the freedom to make a strong technical and substantive contribution to the continued development of the system. Your responsibilities: Design and develop backend functionality based on functional and technical requirements.Build new service components, including integrations with existing systems and services.Set up and apply automated testing and deployment processes within a CI/CD environment.Develop improvement proposals focused on software quality, performance, and scalability.Create technical documentation to support future implementation and platform development. Your profile: At least 5 years of experience as a Backend or Software Engineer; preferably 7+ years.Strong experience with Java, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Kafka, and Kafka Streams.Knowledge of Event Sourcing, Terraform, and cloud platforms, preferably AWS.Experience with test automation and open-source libraries and frameworks.Knowledge of multiple programming languages is a strong advantage.Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Able to balance high-quality engineering with a pragmatic approach.Fluency in English is required; Dutch is an advantage.
