Senior Frontend Engineer (Onsite)

Please note that this is not a typical software house arrangement where engineers frequently rotate across varying internal or short-term projects. Instead, you will be 100% dedicated to one specific client, operating as an embedded core extension of their engineering team to build out their long-term product ecosystem. While your day-to-day focus, technical alignment, and delivery workflows will be completely driven by this single enterprise client, you will work physically on-site alongside our team at the Hyge office in Jakarta. This offers the product-focus and stability of an in-house role, paired with the local community of the Hyge office. Responsibilities Application Implementation: Implement the frontend application for the client's web platform, with careful consideration for multi-tenancy, theming, dynamic configuration loading, modular design, and SSR (Server-Side Rendering) for public-facing pages.Architectural Foundation: Design and deliver the project foundation to support future frontend scalability:Work closely with Engineering leadership to own technical decisions and frontend direction.Develop project scaffolding, including directory structures, coding conventions, and contribution patterns.Build a shared component library designed as a flexible, extensible framework for other developers to contribute to.Documentation: Deliver clear architecture documentation and contribution runbooks as first-class deliverables alongside production code.API Collaboration: Collaborate actively with backend engineers on API contract design and usage patterns.Team Collaboration: Embedded participation in developer ceremonies such as daily check-ins, code reviews, and ad-hoc technical discussions.Code Quality & Governance: Lead peer code reviews for frontend contributions with a strong emphasis on performance, security, and long-term maintainability. Skills & Experience Must-Have Core Experience: 4–6 years of experience building production applications, with deep, relevant experience using React and Next.js.TypeScript Mastery: Strong TypeScript proficiency—highly comfortable with generics, utility types, and leveraging the type system to enforce strict architectural boundaries.Data Integration: Completely comfortable working with REST APIs governed by well-defined contracts.Frontend Architecture: A strong foundation in modern frontend development patterns, specifically designing for high performance and scalability.Technical Communication: Proven ability to evaluate and clearly communicate complex technical and architectural trade-offs.State Management: Hands-on experience building complex, stateful UI workflows.Styling & Layouts: Solid CSS fundamentals, including experience with custom theming systems, responsive layouts, and design systems. Nice-to-Have Active awareness of emerging frontend patterns and tooling trends.Experience optimizing frontend delivery (e.g., CDN strategy, pre-caching, compiling optimization).Experience with industry-standard frontend monitoring and observability practices (e.g., RUM, traceability).Experience with industry-standard test automation practices.Familiarity with AWS cloud-native deployment environments, GitOps practices, and CI/CD workflows via Bitbucket Pipelines or equivalent tooling.
