AWS Cloud Engineer

Role : AWS Cloud Engineer Location: Sydney/Brisbane Skills: AWS Expert with EKS and Terraform IAC coding(hands-on experience) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead – AWS Cloud Engineer to deliver infrastructure and platform solutions for strategic cloud initiatives, including customer-facing and data-driven platforms. This role requires a highly motivated self-starter who can independently drive detailed technical solution design, implementation, and delivery outcomes with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering teams, architects, business stakeholders, and vendors. Key Responsibilities Lead your module of work independently within strategic projects and platform initiatives.Drive detailed technical solution design from requirements through implementation (architecture work led by others).Lead detailed design sessions and technical discussions.Make informed technology and platform decisions aligned with business objectives.Escalate complex technical issues to the Architecture Lead as needed.Work with business and technical stakeholders to gather, analyze, and translate requirements into scalable cloud solutions.Produce Detailed Designs (LLD), infrastructure documentation, and operational support models.Design, implement, and support AWS-based platforms and services.Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.Perform root-cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Contribute to disaster recovery planning and testing activities.Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Engage with project managers, architects, security teams, and vendors.Present technical options, trade-offs, and recommendations. Required Skills & Experience: Essential 8+ years of Cloud Infrastructure or Platform Engineering experience.3+ years in a Technical Lead, Platform Lead, or Senior Engineering role.Strong AWS infrastructure expertise (EC2, VPC, IAM, Route53, CloudWatch, S3, Load Balancers, Secrets Manager, Systems Manager, ECR).Experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud solutions.Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.Experience designing highly available and resilient cloud architectures.Knowledge of disaster recovery, auto-scaling, monitoring & alerting, secrets management, and security controls.Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills.Ability to work independently and drive outcomes with minimal supervision.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Preferred CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance.Experience in supporting Amazon EKS platforms.Kafka and event-driven architectures.Databricks and enterprise data platforms.API platforms and microservices.Platform Engineering practices.GitOps and ArgoCD.Large enterprise or regulated environments.
