Senior Software Engineer

About your role We're looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll work alongside engineers, product leaders and domain experts to build and improve quickclaim's core products. The role spans billing and payment workflows, customer-facing applications, APIs, analytics, and the non-functional capabilities that allow our platform to operate securely and reliably at scale. You will contribute across the software development lifecycle, from architecture and detailed design through to implementation, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement. What your day-to-day looks like Design, build, test and operate production software across Java and Node.js services and React applications.Develop and improve billing, claiming, payment, reconciliation and exception-management workflows.Build reliable APIs and integrations with government services, payment platforms, care-management systems and finance applications.Design and evolve microservices, REST APIs and event-driven components within a distributed AWS environment.Strengthen non-functional capabilities including security, privacy, reliability, performance, scalability, observability and disaster recovery.Improve engineering delivery through automated testing, CI/CD, Docker, Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices.Own features and technical outcomes from initial design through production operation, support and improvement.Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and incident analysis, and help lift engineering standards across the team.Collaborate closely with product, delivery and customer-facing teams to turn complex industry requirements into practical software.Support and mentor other engineers through thoughtful technical guidance, constructive feedback and knowledge sharing. What you will bring 8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience delivering production systems.Strong, hands-on experience with Java, Node.js and React.Proven experience building, deploying and operating medium to large-scale applications on AWS.A strong understanding of microservices, REST APIs and distributed systems, including their operational trade-offs.Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Git, Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices.The ability to contribute meaningfully to both High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD).Strong software design, debugging, testing and problem-solving skills.A practical understanding of security, performance, reliability, observability and other non-functional requirements.Strong ownership and sound judgement, with the ability to move work forward in a fast-changing environment.Clear communication and a collaborative approach to working with engineers and non-technical stakeholders. Highly regarded Experience in fintech, payments, billing, healthcare, government integrations or another regulated environment.Experience designing event-driven systems, asynchronous processing and high-volume transaction workflows.Experience with relational databases, data pipelines, reporting platforms or analytics products.Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001.Experience helping a growing engineering team improve architecture, delivery practices and operational maturity.
