AVP Java Engineer up to £120k base + bonus London We're partnering with a global financial institution investing heavily in the next generation of its electronic trading technology. As the team continues to grow, they're looking for a Java Engineer to join a high-performing engineering group building low latency, business-critical systems used across global markets This is the ideal role for a mid level Java developer to take the next step in their career and move closer to the business. The Role You'll be responsible for designing, building and enhancing core Java applications that support front-office trading workflows. Working closely with traders, quants and fellow engineers, you'll deliver high-performance solutions while helping evolve the platform for future growth. This role offers significant ownership while remaining hands-on, making it ideal for someone looking to step into an Assistant Vice President-level position without moving away from engineering. What You'll Be Doing Building high-performance Java applications used within a front-office environment.Designing scalable, low latency distributed systems.Working closely with trading and quantitative teams to deliver new functionality.Driving improvements around performance, resilience and system reliability.Contributing to architecture, code reviews and engineering best practices.Mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across global teams.What We're Looking For Strong commercial Java development experience.Experience building distributed, low latency or high-performance systems.Excellent knowledge of multithreading, concurrency and JVM performance.Strong understanding of system design and software engineering principles.Experience working within financial markets, electronic trading or another highly performance-sensitive environment.Comfortable working directly with business stakeholders in a fast-paced setting.Why Join?
