Location: Sydney About the Role Are you passionate about building scalable platforms, automating complex processes, and enabling engineering teams to move faster? We are seeking experienced Senior Platform Engineers to join high-performing product teams and provide flexible engineering capacity across strategic platform initiatives. This role focuses on platform engineering, systems integration, automation, cloud services, and developer enablement, helping teams improve delivery velocity, operational excellence, and platform reliability. You will work in complex enterprise environments, designing scalable solutions that simplify operations, improve developer experience, and accelerate product delivery. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with platform expertise and a systems-thinking approach to solving technical challenges. Key Responsibilities Design and implement integrations between internal and external applications and services.Develop, maintain, and enhance platform capabilities, shared services, tooling, and automation frameworks.Build reusable engineering assets that improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release management processes.Enhance observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational tooling.Support cloud migration, modernization, and platform uplift initiatives.Collaborate with product, engineering, and architecture teams to simplify technical solutions and improve system reliability.Apply security-by-design principles across platform and integration solutions.Participate in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering best-practice initiatives.Identify technical risks, dependencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Required Skills & Experience Software Engineering Strong commercial experience with Node.js and TypeScript in production environments.Hands-on expertise with Git and GitHub, including pull requests, branching strategies, and code review processes.Experience developing, deploying, and supporting cloud-native applications and services.Strong understanding of software engineering principles, testing practices, and maintainable code design.Security-first mindset with practical experience implementing secure development practices.Platform & Integration Proven experience designing and implementing system-to-system integrations.Strong understanding of REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging patterns.Experience with API gateways, service orchestration, and integration frameworks.Hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services.Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation tooling, and cloud provisioning practices.Experience with observability platforms, monitoring, logging, and operational support. What We're Looking For Senior/Staff-Level Capabilities Ability to independently lead technical initiatives from discovery through delivery.Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.Ability to rapidly understand existing systems and contribute within established teams.Systems-thinking approach to architecture, reliability, and scalability challenges.Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction without direct authority.Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and engineering excellence.Desirable Experience AWS certifications or significant AWS platform experience.Experience with container-based technologies and modern platform ecosystems.Exposure to enterprise-scale or regulated environments.Understanding of security controls, identity management, governance, and compliance requirements.Experience supporting large-scale modernization and transformation programs.
