Description

An experienced Application Engineer / Administrator is required to support enterprise ICT applications and operational services within a complex IT operations and infrastructure environment. The role focuses on application engineering, administration, support, monitoring, automation, and continuous service improvement across production and non-production environments. The successful consultant will work within an ITIL-based operational framework and a matrix organisation where Agile practices may be applied. Mandatory Requirements: Language Working knowledge of English at CEFR level B2 or higher. Education & Seniority Candidate must demonstrate one of the following: Completed university studies of at least 4 years, evidenced by a diploma, plus a minimum of 9 years of relevant professional experience gained after the diploma.OR Completed university studies of at least 3 years, evidenced by a diploma, plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience gained after the diploma. Professional Experience Candidate must demonstrate: Minimum 6 years of experience working as an IT professional in medium or large IT infrastructure environments, including deployment, support and maintenance of applications.Minimum 5 years of experience working in application administration.Minimum 2 years of experience with microservices, container orchestration and container-based stacks such as Docker or Kubernetes.Minimum 2 years of experience administering and supporting Elasticsearch.Minimum 5 years of experience working with enterprise Microsoft and/or Linux server solutions. Technical Knowledge Candidate must demonstrate good knowledge of: Deployment and administration of Elasticsearch clusters.Microservices, container orchestration and container-based stacks using Kubernetes, Helm Charts, Docker and Rancher.Configuration management technologies and concepts (e.g. Puppet, Ansible, Chocolatey).Shell scripting and/or PowerShell scripting.ITIL, including incident, change and release management processes. Security Requirements Candidate must be able to: Provide a recent certificate of good conduct (not older than 3 months) prior to service commencement.Provide proof of submission of the required security clearance application before assignment commencement.Obtain and maintain an EU Confidential security clearance (or higher) within 15 weeks of assignment start. Scope of Services / Responsibilities Application Engineering & Administration Install, configure, administer and maintain applications in production and non-production environments.Ensure application availability, reliability and operational stability.Support deployment and operational management of application platforms. Deliverables Configured and operational application environments.Application administration and support services.Incident, change, release and problem resolution activities.Application monitoring and performance reports.Application procedure manuals.Troubleshooting guides.Backup and restore plans.Technical support and installation documentation.Automated administration procedures.Contributions to the technical knowledge base. Preferred Requirements Candidates with the following will be considered advantageous: Experience Minimum 2 years of experience with public or hybrid cloud environments (Azure and/or AWS).Technical Knowledge DevOps practices and methodologies.Relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.Kong API Gateway.Public or hybrid cloud platforms and services (Azure and/or AWS).Certifications Certifications related to the technologies referenced in the role.
