Position Summary The Infrastructure Engineer will work on cross functional teams to build scalable infrastructure for our government -- designing, implementing, and delivering services that millions of Americans depend on. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you may be responsible for technical leadership of platform infrastructure projects supporting dev teams and large-scale systems with a strong focus on automation, organization, and communication. Your work enables application development teams to run effectively in the cloud to deliver users a modern experience. You will be responsible for delivering on client requirements as well as providing long-term oversight and vision to help shape future work. Your strong cross-functional communication skills will complement your technical leadership skills to provide the highest value for government systems. What you'll do Building infrastructure as code and DevOps pipelines and reviewing solutions built by others on the teamResearching and analyzing technical solutionsMaintaining and enhancing documentation using various engineering tools Managing integrated systems used by the clientCompleting work received from application teamsProactively identifying blockers, risks, and issues, proposing solutions or escalating as appropriateResearching, selecting, and creating new automation tools or frameworksImplementing automation for a variety of cloud resourcesDesigning initial architecture or changes to architecture for a projectDocumenting and communicating architecture, technical solution plans, rollout plans and project updates to stakeholdersCollaborating with stakeholders to incorporate their feedbackIdentifying stakeholders and obtaining buy-inTracking stakeholders’ technical tasks to keep the project on scheduleEnsuring any issues or blockers that develop are addressed and resolvedIdentifying gaps and closing themStaying ahead of staffing issues, ensuring that hiring through subcontractors is efficientEscalating to program manager any concerns raisedBuilding client trust by being available as a sounding board for questions or issuesPerforming code and technical reviewsFacilitating meetingsEstablishing engineering norms and practices and ensuring complianceCollaborating with teammates to identify and determine solutionsTeaching teammates how to manage time, projects and be productiveServing in the on call rotationFacilitating post-mortems after incidentsRespond to tickets or routing tickets to the appropriate engineerApplying patches and updates to operating systems and libraries Required Skills Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or mix of Software EngineeringA Bachelor's Degree (in any discipline) or four years of experience in lieu of a degreeExperience managing different systems (e.g Windows Server, Linux CLI) and automating repetitive tasksExperience training and mentoring engineersScripting (python, Go, Javascript)Experience designing CI/CD and other workflow automation spanning multiple systemsIncident handling and followup (root cause analyses, etc)Knowledge of cloud primitives (VPC, ACL, Route Tables, Security Groups, Images)Experience running asynchronous jobs, e.g. using services like ECS or LambdaAbility to use the command line to achieve practical aims, e.g. navigating the shell;
