THE COMPANY
August Robotics is an international startup building application-specific robots to automate business workflows.
We have offices in Australia, USA, Germany, China and Hong Kong and are backed by leading Asia Pacific VC investors.
We develop multiple robotic product lines across different sectors and do all R&D in-house.
We are building a software, data and AI team in Melbourne.
Your work will have an immediate, tangible impact on real-world robots deployed globally for commercial clients.
THE ROLE
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop reliable, testable software, and support company-wide infrastructure tasks, helping maintain reliable and secure access to internal systems and tools.
Working closely with a cross-functional team (hardware, AI, software) and internal stakeholders, you will help design and deliver creative, end-to-end solutions.
Core responsibilities include:
Contributing to technical roadmap planning and system design Taking responsibility for software projects end-to end, including requirements and resourcing, security and delivery Developing interfaces and dashboards to monitor robot fleets Implementing APIs and data pipelines Developing fleet algorithms (eg.
related to navigation or planning) Designing networking and communication protocols between robots and the cloud
YOUR SKILLS:
You must have:
Expert level programming skills in Python Understanding of cyber security principles Experience with web development frameworks such as Django and vue.js Understanding of distributed applications, and communication protocols Background in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning or related discipline Experience working in Linux environmentsIn addition to the above requirements, the following skills are helpful (but not required):
Experience with real-time or event-driven architectures Familiarity with mobile robotics (eg.
ROS and SLAM) Cloud computing, bash scripting, CI/CD You should be excited to contribute to an entrepreneurial culture, open to learning, and willing to jump in and lend a hand on a range of different tasks.
