About The Role
Ring is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join the Persistent Connection Service team.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the core socket services that facilitate device connectivity for millions of Ring devices around the world.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams across software, firmware, and product domains, utilizing AWS technologies to address complex distributed systems challenges.
This service is vital for enabling real-time, two-way communication between devices and the Ring Cloud, processing billions of messages daily.
Your contributions will directly impact the availability, latency, and resilience of our connectivity infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation and security of Ring’s ecosystem.

Qualifications
5+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship)Proficiency in at least one programming language used in backend developmentExperience in designing and architecting reliable, scalable systemsPrevious experience as a technical lead, mentor, or in a leadership role within engineering teamsBachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalentExperience with distributed systems, fault tolerance, and high-throughput backend servicesKnowledge of AWS services and cloud-based architectureFamiliarity with software development lifecycle including code reviews, source control, testing, and deployment
