Sr Java Backend Developer - Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, REST API Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid (4 Days WFO) Duration: 6-12 months Experience: 8+ years Looking for a strong Java Backend Developer who has some web application (front-end) experience. Role and Responsibilities As a Backend Software Developer, you have a solid technical foundation and a strong focus on growing your development skills. You are able to deliver complex tasks, working individually or pairing with others, and you have a significant amount of experience in different domains. You will be part of a team creating new services and client-facing applications using the latest technologies which will shape the future of banking. You will develop and support highly scalable, high-performance APIs within an Agile development team. Ensure high code quality through automated unit and functional testing. Automate processes within the development pipeline; identify opportunities for efficiency gains and reducing time-to-market and enabling continuous delivery. Design and develop code structures based on technical design defined by the team. Work within an Agile product team comprised of technical, product, and business team members to deliver exceptional products. You will actively seek out knowledge about new technologies and how they can be used to solve current and foreseeable challenges. Excellent communication including the ability to distill technical details into human terms. Required Qualifications Cloud experience in one of OCP, Azure, or AWS. Prefer OCP4, minimum (3x) years. Java/Spring experience, minimum (5x) years. LINUX/AIX experience, minimum (3x) years. GitHub Actions experience, minimum of (1x) year. GitHub experience, minimum of (2x) years. Agile experience, minimum (3x) years. Strong leadership skills leading Agile teams, (3x) years experience. DevOps minimum (1x) year experience. Preferred Qualifications Trading business domain knowledge. AI experience (LLM, MCP, RAG, LANGCHAIN, Skills/Agents/Tasks/Vector DB). Experience with Web App development, Angular, JavaScript, etc.
