The Role We’re looking for a Site Reliability / DevOps Engineer to own and strengthen the infrastructure behind Onyx. You’ll work closely with our engineering team to improve the reliability, scalability, security, and observability of our systems. This is a high-impact role for someone who wants real ownership, enjoys solving complex infrastructure problems, and is excited to build the foundation of a rapidly scaling financial platform. You won’t be maintaining a finished system - you’ll help shape how our infrastructure is designed and operated as the company grows. What You’ll Do Design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable infrastructure across AWSOwn deployment systems, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and production environmentsManage infrastructure using Terraform and establish strong infrastructure-as-code practicesImprove observability across the platform using Datadog, logging, metrics, tracing, and alertingSupport services running across ECS, Fargate, Lambda, SQS, Aurora, and related AWS technologiesPartner with engineers to improve application performance, resilience, and operational readinessBuild systems that reduce manual work and allow the engineering team to ship quickly and safelyLead incident response, root-cause analysis, and long-term reliability improvementsEstablish best practices around uptime, disaster recovery, security, and capacity planningIdentify infrastructure risks before they become production issues What We’re Looking For 2+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or a similar roleStrong hands-on experience working with AWS in production environmentsExperience with Terraform or another infrastructure-as-code toolExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelinesFamiliarity with containerized services and platforms such as Docker, ECS, Fargate, or KubernetesExperience with monitoring and observability tools such as DatadogStrong understanding of networking, cloud security, databases, and distributed systemsAbility to troubleshoot complex production issues across infrastructure and application layersA high level of ownership and comfort operating in a fast-moving startup environmentClear communication and the ability to collaborate closely with software engineers Nice to Have Experience supporting trading, financial, gaming, sportsbook, or other high-throughput systemsExperience with PostgreSQL or Amazon AuroraFamiliarity with TypeScript or Node.js servicesExperience designing systems with strict uptime, latency, or security requirementsExperience preparing infrastructure for rapid user and transaction growth Why Onyx Meaningful ownership over the infrastructure of a rapidly scaling platformThe opportunity to build foundational systems instead of inheriting layers of legacy processA small, highly technical team with direct access to company leadershipCompetitive compensation and meaningful equityA fast-moving environment where strong performance is recognized and rewarded quicklyThe chance to help define a new category at the intersection of markets, technology, and culture Onyx is an equal-opportunity employer.
