Forward Deployed Engineer – Enterprise AI Infrastructure Full-time | On-site | San Francisco, CA Compensation: $220,000–$320,000 total compensation ($150,000–$300,000 base salary + competitive equity) Visa Sponsorship: Available About the RoleWe are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to sit at the intersection of deep engineering and customer impact, owning the technical deployment of an AI-powered document platform for sophisticated enterprise customers. This is a founding Forward Deployed Engineer role at a fast-growing, Series B AI infrastructure company with approximately 75 employees that has raised more than $100 million in funding. The company processes tens of millions of document pages each month and is experiencing rapid year-over-year growth. You'll help shape what this function looks like from the ground up while working directly with customers and internal engineering teams. What You'll DoPartner with Account Executives and Solutions Engineers during pre-sales to run technical evaluations, build custom demo applications, and support competitive evaluations.Own post-sales technical success for 1–3 enterprise customers by meeting regularly with customers, resolving technical challenges, increasing product adoption, and identifying expansion opportunities.Build whatever is needed to drive customer success, including:Evaluation harnessesPrototype applicationsDiagnostic dashboardsCustom API integrationsEmbed with enterprise engineering teams to deploy new AI document solutions for customers who need hands-on technical support.Share customer feedback with Product and Engineering teams to influence future product direction. Required Qualifications3–6 years of experience in full-stack (backend-leaning) or product engineering, including Software Engineering or Forward Deployed Engineering experience.Strong Python skills with the ability to independently build and ship production-quality software.Experience working with AI/LLM technologies and modern AI coding tools.Experience building production software at a high-growth startup serving enterprise customers.Comfortable participating in technical conversations with enterprise customers.Stable work history without repeated short job tenures.
