Senior Java Backend Developer / Technical Lead (Luxembourg)

About The Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Backend Developer to act as Technical Lead for a strategic application within a leading EU financial institution. You will combine strong hands-on development skills with technical leadership, solution design, and ownership of backend applications operating in a critical financial environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on taking responsibility, coordinating technical activities across developers, reviewing implementations, and driving high-quality software delivery — all while remaining actively involved in day-to-day development. Responsibilities Design and implement robust backend solutions using Java and Spring BootLead the technical design of new features and enhancementsCoordinate and mentor other Java developers within the teamReview code and ensure compliance with coding standards and best practicesDrive software quality through design reviews, testing, and continuous improvementCollaborate closely with Solution Architects, Business Analysts, QA engineers, and DevOps engineersAnalyze complex functional and technical requirements and translate them into scalable solutionsEnsure maintainability, performance, and security of developed solutionsSupport CI/CD processes and participate in release activitiesProvide second-line production support, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex production issuesTake ownership of technical decisions and proactively identify opportunities for improvement Required Skills Excellent knowledge of: 7+ years of experience in a similar positionJava 17Spring Framework / Spring BootJPA / HibernateSQLDesign and implementation of REST APIs Strong experience with: Apache Kafka or other messaging technologiesMavenJUnitCI/CD pipelinesGit Nice to have: Experience in financial services or bankingAzure DevOpsLiquibaseSOAP web services Language Fluent English (mandatory) Location Luxembourg - Hybrid working model (2 days remote / 3 days on-site).
