Reporting directly to the Cloud Operations Manager, the Azure Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions that support the organisation’s strategic goals and business operations. You will be pivotal in shaping our cloud strategy, optimizing cloud performance and will drive the modernisation, migration, and optimisation of applications and services to Azure. A key responsibility is the management and governance of St Vincent’s Azure tenancy, ensuring security, compliance, cost optimisation, and operational efficiency across the platform. Stand Out Points Full-time permanent position Hybrid working arrangement – office based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane Not-for-Profit salary packaging – earn more for doing the job you love About The Role We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to deliver, operate and continuously improve our Azure cloud platform supporting Tier 0 clinical and enterprise systems. This is a hands-on experienced technical role for an engineer who enjoys ownership, problem-solving and working at scale in a regulated, mission-critical environment. The role Deliver and operate secure, scalable Azure cloud infrastructure Improve the maturity of Azure platform services, DevOps practices and operational processes Own and uplift Infrastructure as Code patterns, deployment pipelines and platform hardening Support high availability, backup and disaster recovery for critical systems Act as a experienced technical escalation point during incidents and outages Implement security controls aligned with best practices Partner with cybersecurity, data, networking and application teams to collaborate with for common goalsSupport cloud migrations, platform modernisation and new service delivery Support organisation-wide digital and virtual-care transformation goals About You 3 -5 years’ hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation, particularly Terraform – plus experience with Bicep, ARM templates, Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Experience leveraging Platform Engineering patterns and AI-assisted development (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery and operational efficiencyExperience with AKS, Azure Container Apps, Function Apps or containerised application platforms Strong knowledge of backup, disaster recovery and resilience patternsExcellent communication and collaboration skills to be used with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Things that work for you: Ability to visibly see your impact on the business and its serviceCompetitive salary packaging optionsDiscounted private health insuranceEmployee Assistance Program for staff and their familiesAccess to the Fitness Passport (FP) Why become part of St Vincent’s Health Australia Because you’re like us, you believe in our vision that every person, whoever and wherever they are, is served with excellent and compassionate care, by a better and fairer health and aged care system.
