Backend Engineer

Employment: Permanent Role Experience: 5+ Years Location: Sydney, Australia (Hybrid) Eligibility: Candidates must have full working rights in Australia (Citizen, PR, or Valid Visa holders). Key Responsibilities Design and develop backend microservices using Java (Spring Boot) or Kotlin.Build and maintain REST/gRPC APIs and event-driven services using Kafka.Implement Trade Finance business logic, SWIFT messaging, and enterprise integrations.Design PostgreSQL database schemas, optimize SQL queries, and manage database migrations.Write unit, integration, and contract tests while supporting CI/CD and production operations. Required Skills 5+ years of backend development with Java 11+/17+, Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Spring Security.Strong experience with REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture.Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/SQL Server, Kafka or IBM MQ, Docker, Kubernetes, and Git.Knowledge of JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).Experience in banking, financial services, or enterprise application development is highly desirable.
