As the business continues to grow, they're looking for a Backend Developer (Python) to help build the data integration platform at the heart of their trading and portfolio management operations. The Opportunity This is far more than a traditional backend development role. You'll design and build the APIs, services and data pipelines that connect market data providers, counterparties and internal trading systems across Europe. Alongside software engineering, you'll also work directly with data -validating, analysing and improving the quality of information that drives real-time commercial decisions. No previous energy market experience is required. If you're an exceptional Python developer with a genuine curiosity to learn, you'll be supported by a team of experienced industry professionals. What You'll Be Doing Designing and developing scalable backend services using Python and FastAPIBuilding robust APIs following OpenAPI standardsDeveloping data integration services across multiple European marketsCreating reliable data pipelines and event-driven workflowsAnalysing and validating large datasets to ensure accuracy and performanceWorking with PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, Alembic and PandasCollaborating with engineers, traders and commercial teams to deliver high-impact solutionsWriting clean, well-tested, maintainable code within a modern engineering environment What We're Looking For 2-4 years' experience developing backend applications with PythonStrong SQL and database design skills (PostgreSQL preferred)Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic and AlembicExperience using Pandas for data analysisExcellent communication skills and fluent EnglishFluent GermanA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related disciplineA proactive mindset with a genuine desire to learn and solve complex problems Nice to Have Experience with Temporal, Airflow, Prefect or similar orchestration toolsDocker and CI/CD experienceKafka, Redis or other messaging technologiesExperience building integration platforms or real-time data systemsExposure to energy trading or electricity markets (helpful but not essential) Why Join?
