Senior Backend Engineer

A Senior Backend Engineer at Rove will be a travel hacking expert, primarily focusing on developing and overseeing the technology surrounding award redemption. This role involves working closely with airline loyalty search APIs, points ledger and transfers, and rewards programs. A strong emphasis is placed on cybersecurity to ensure the utmost safety and privacy for our customers. Key Responsibilities Oversee the development and maintenance of Rove’s synthetic routing API (finding the user segmented awards and repositioned flights).Prioritize and implement advanced cybersecurity measures to protect customer data and transaction processes.Lead the backend development of the Rove travel portal and build a universal airline mile.Drive the overall technology strategy and ensure alignment with the company’s business goals.Manage a team of IT professionals and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Qualifications Can talk about travel hacking and airline loyalty for hours.Has previously redeemed an award flight at 10+ cent per point value.Proven track record of successful technology leadership and team management.Strong knowledge and experience in Node.js, TypeScript, Python, and Supabase.In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices in the fintech industry.Experience with API development and management.Exceptional problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking. Desirable Skills Familiarity with agile development methodologies.Experience in scaling technology for growing startups.Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of inspiring a team.Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including finance, marketing, and operations. Additional Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.Previous experience in a senior technology role, ideally within a startup environment.A passion for innovation in the fintech and travel spaces.
