Platform Engineer

Role: Platform Engineer Type: Full time – Perm / Contract Location: Sydney, AU Status: Valid visa with full working rights Experience: 6+ years Key Responsibilities Design and implement integrations between internal and external applications and services.Develop, maintain, and enhance platform capabilities, shared services, tooling, and automation frameworks.Build reusable engineering assets that improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release management processes.Enhance observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational tooling.Support cloud migration, modernization, and platform uplift initiatives.Collaborate with product, engineering, and architecture teams to simplify technical solutions and improve system reliability.Apply security-by-design principles across platform and integration solutions.Participate in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering best-practice initiatives.Identify technical risks, dependencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Required Skills & Experience Software Engineering Strong commercial experience with Node.js and TypeScript in production environments.Hands-on expertise with Git and GitHub, including pull requests, branching strategies, and code review processes.Experience developing, deploying, and supporting cloud-native applications and services.Strong understanding of software engineering principles, testing practices, and maintainable code design.Security-first mindset with practical experience implementing secure development practices.Platform & Integration Proven experience designing and implementing system-to-system integrations.Strong understanding of REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging patterns.Experience with API gateways, service orchestration, and integration frameworks.Hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services.Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation tooling, and cloud provisioning practices.Experience with observability platforms, monitoring, logging, and operational support.
