THE ROLE As a DevOps Engineer in the Data Ops team you will build and maintain data systems to ensure data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization. You will collaborate with Data Engineers in the Data Ops team and DevOps peers in the Product organisation, acting as a liaison between them. You will deliver DevOps best practices across the DataOps services and infrastructure, while creating synergies and reducing infrastructure costs. In the DataOps team you will be a self-motivated and engaging engineer who understands the importance of customer-centric solutions. You will work with ambiguous projects, and you will drive innovation through rapid collaboration with your peers and also with colleagues from other parts of the organization. You will either be a Software Engineer who has worked in a complex Development Environment and has examples of project work designed to improve efficiency; or a Systems Administrator with a keen interest in Application Development with strong scripting skills and examples of involvement in Software Development projects. In both cases you will have a passion for automation, data management and product quality. You will have the ability to communicate effectively and lead initiatives with other Engineers with minimal supervision. You will be comfortable with cloud technologies, your way around the command line, and a solid foundation in programming and troubleshooting What You Will Do In This Role Defining, implementing and maintaining a set of DataOps Services for a large and complex data ecosystem that enables Certinia to be data driven. Examples include Software Configuration Management, Continuous Integration, Infrastructure cost control and ETL processes.Supporting the DataOps team by creating Data infrastructures needed to enable DataOps solutions to be developed, tested and released, in an efficient and controlled manner.Developing and supporting Cloud Architecture (AWS) services, used to host the DataOps infrastructure and DataOps services including user management, security, adherence to corporate policies and housekeeping.Implement best practices in Cloud Infrastructure and Continuous integration by providing necessary Source Control set up and creation of Jenkins jobs, aligned with corporate standards.Support Disaster Recovery strategies to ensure DataOps services continuity.Maintain a minimum set of documentation that supports and defines our development processes.Build and maintain infrastructure for new data initiatives for an emerging natural-language query system (i.e. AWS Bedrock, DBT, Slackbot)Develop and maintain tools and plug-ins designed to improve the efficiency of the DataOps team.Provide education and training to the DataOps team such that they understand the development workflow and processes. What You Need To Be Successful In This Role Understanding of data integration and orchestration tools (Airflow is a plus).Development background (Python is a plus).Experience with Jenkins CI/CD.Experience with version control systems (Git and Bitbucket are a plus).Familiarity with Terraform, Docker.Understanding of Cloud Architecture (AWS services such as S3, ECS, ECR, EC2, Redshift, CloudWatch and VPCs).English professional working proficiency is essential.
