Senior Python Developer – Investment Management - Contract - Inside IR35
I am seeking an experienced Python Developer with a strong background in investment management to join a high-performing technology team delivering mission-critical solutions across the front and middle office.
This role is ideal for someone who combines excellent Python development skills with a deep understanding of investment management workflows, trading operations, and portfolio management systems.
You'll work closely with portfolio managers, traders, business analysts, and technology teams to design, develop, and enhance applications that support the investment lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust Python applications supporting investment management processes.Build and optimise data pipelines, APIs, and automation tools.Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database solutions.Work closely with front office stakeholders to deliver technology solutions aligned with business needs.Integrate with portfolio management, order management, and market data platforms.Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.Participate in solution design, code reviews, testing, and deployment.
Essential Skills & Experience
Extensive commercial experience developing applications in Python.Strong experience working within an investment management or asset management environment.Excellent SQL skills, including writing and optimising complex queries.Strong understanding of the investment lifecycle, including portfolios, trading, compliance, and operations.Experience integrating with financial systems and data platforms.Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including version control, testing, and CI/CD.
Desirable Skills
Experience with an Order Management System (OMS), ideally Charles River IMS, or similar platforms such as Aladdin, ThinkFolio, SimCorp, Bloomberg AIM, or Eze OMS.Experience with REST APIs, messaging technologies, and cloud platforms.Familiarity with market data providers and financial data modelling.Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
