Senior Back End Developer

Job Purpose An ideal candidate will be an experienced "full stack developer" who understands the end-to-end stack, with a strong emphasis on Java, J2EE, and Spring frameworks. Key Responsibilities Develop, enhance, and maintain backend services for core banking and digital channels.Translate business and technical requirements into clean, maintainable code.Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, and DevOps to deliver features on schedule.Write tests, perform code reviews, and uphold engineering standards and best practices.Investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver long-term fixes.Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.Contribute to technical design discussions and mentor junior developers when needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). Relevant certification is an advantage. Relevant Work Experience 5–7 years of relevant Java development experience in enterprise environments.Proven experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL databases, and distributed systems concepts.Exposure to cloud/container technologies is a plus.Experience in banking, payments, or other regulated industries is preferred.Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Required Competencies and Skills Design and development experience with OOD/MVC design, Java/J2EE, web services, RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, Linux/Unix development tools, and scripting languages (Python, Perl, JavaScript). Solid understanding of RDBMS data models; knowledge of more than one database is essential. Technical/Functional Skills: 5–7 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.Strong proficiency in Java 11+ and Spring Boot for building scalable services.Solid experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.Good understanding of SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning in relational databases.Familiarity with messaging/event-driven architecture (for example, Kafka or RabbitMQ).Working knowledge of CI/CD, Git, and automated testing (unit/integration).Good grasp of secure coding practices, API security, and production support.Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in Agile teams.
