Senior/Staff Data Platform Engineer Amsterdam | Hybrid Euro 150K - 200K TC Relocation package + Visa Sponsorship Some engineering problems only exist at extreme scale. We're looking for a Senior/Staff Data Platform Engineer to shape the future of one of largest private data platforms, active on a global scale. This is a role for engineers who enjoy designing platforms rather than products, solving distributed systems challenges, and enabling hundreds of engineers to move faster. You'll help define the technical direction of a platform that powers massive volumes of data workloads every day across analytics, machine learning, and real-time systems. Your decisions will influence how data is processed, stored, governed, and consumed across the entire engineering organisation. The Challenge You'll work on a platform operating at exceptional scale. This isn't about maintaining infrastructure. It's about evolving the platform that hundreds of engineers depend on daily, making architectural decisions that improve scalability, reliability, developer experience, and operational excellence. What You'll Own As a Staff Engineer, you'll combine deep technical expertise with strategic leadership. You'll: Define the technical roadmap for critical data platform capabilities.Lead architecture decisions across distributed compute, storage, metadata, and streaming systems.Build internal platforms and frameworks that improve developer productivity at scale.Drive platform reliability, performance and operational excellence.Identify long-term technical investments that simplify systems and reduce operational complexity.Partner with engineering leadership, infrastructure teams, security, data engineering and machine learning teams to align platform strategy.Mentor senior engineers and raise the engineering bar across the organisation.Evaluate and introduce new technologies where they provide meaningful long-term value. What You'll Work With Depending on your background, you'll contribute across areas such as: Large-scale distributed data platforms and tools (expertise in all tools is not needed)With your strong Python skills you will create customized solutionsStreaming architectures and Kafka ecosystemsHadoop and Kubernetes ecosystem Spark, Trino and OLAP technologiesData quality, governance and metadata platformsInternal data engineering platforms and deployment toolingPerformance optimisation across distributed systems Compensation 150K-200K euro’s total compensation annuallyBase salary + holiday allowance + benefit budget + stock options + benefitsFor relocation there is a highly skilled team assisting with the whole relocation process, including visa sponsorship.Hybrid work week with optional working from abroad for some weeks.
