The Lara API team is at the heart of Translated's platform engineering. We own and evolve the endpoints that power Lara, a SaaS product for AI-driven translation. Our work directly shapes the experience of developers and businesses worldwide who rely on Lara to move their content across languages at scale. If you care about writing clean, reliable backend code that real people and real integrations depend on, this is your team. You'll work on meaningful problems: designing and shipping new API features, maintaining and evolving a microservices architecture on AWS, and integrating with AI and translation services to bring new capabilities to life. You'll collaborate closely with other engineers, contribute to technical decisions, and have real ownership of what you build, even as someone earlier in their career. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain backend microservices powering the Lara APIOwn features end-to-end, from technical design through to productionWork with our MySQL database and Redis layerIntegrate with external services that handle translation and AI featuresParticipate in code reviews, both giving and receiving thoughtful feedbackWrite tests and take code quality seriously (without being dogmatic about it)Collaborate with teammates across engineering and productWrite clear technical documentation that others can actually use Requirements +5 years of experience in backend software developmentProficiency in Node.js with TypeScriptGood knowledge of SQL and relational databases (MySQL)Solid understanding of REST API design and server-side web application architectureComfortable working with Docker and containerized environmentsProficiency in Git and GitHub-based workflowsEnjoys owning problems end-to-end and will go out of their way to acquire whatever knowledge it takes to get the job doneExcellent communication skills, able to discuss technical topics clearly with both technical and non-technical people Nice to Have Experience with AWS services, especially ECS, S3, SQS, or LambdaFamiliarity with Redis or similar in-memory data storesExperience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD pipelinesKnowledge of Test Driven Development principlesExperience with the Fastify and Express web frameworkFamiliarity with rate limiting, quota management, or billing systems in a SaaS contextLinux shell scripting and Unix system administration Headquarters Translated is hosted at Pi Campus, a working environment immersed in nature where 5 luxury villas in Rome (Italy) have been converted into functional offices to foster talent growth. Our Offer Based on a standard level of experience, the offered salary typically ranges between €35.000,00 and €55.000,00. The actual package depends on factors such as location, scope of responsibilities, and performance. Compensation generally grows quickly as experience leads to greater contributions. Exceptionally strong candidates may be offered salaries above this range to acknowledge their higher potential impact.
