Azure Cloud Engineer
Initial 6-month Contract (Will be extended long term)
Dublin/Hybrid (1 day per week onsite)
Rate: โฌ400 per day
Our client is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to support the development, automation and security of complex cloud infrastructure environments.
The successful candidate will have strong experience across Microsoft Azure, Terraform, cloud networking and DevSecOps.
You will work with technical and product teams to develop reusable infrastructure patterns, improve deployment processes and ensure cloud environments meet operational and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop Infrastructure-as-Code automation using Terraform, including reusable patterns and modules.
Use Azure DevOps, Git, YAML and other modern CI/CD tools to provision infrastructure and prevent configuration drift.
Investigate and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.
Recommend and implement solutions to improve cloud infrastructure performance, reliability and security.
Document technical solutions, automation processes and infrastructure changes.
Manage firewall technologies and develop automated network firewall workflows.
Integrate firewall management and network security controls into the wider cloud security strategy.
Develop, implement and enforce Policy-as-Code across Azure environments.
Configure automated detection, remediation and enforcement of cloud security standards.
Apply security policies based on recognised CIS and NIST benchmarks.
Support the design, implementation and optimisation of standardised CI/CD pipelines.
Introduce validation, security and operational quality gates throughout the deployment process.
Help product and engineering teams adopt DevSecOps practices and automation.
Adapt CI/CD processes to suit the requirements of different product teams.
Evaluate and deploy suitable DevSecOps and Continuous Delivery tooling.
Assess new cloud platforms, scripting languages, frameworks and CI/CD technologies.
Support the deployment and rollout of new infrastructure features and platform improvements.
Required Experience
Strong commercial experience working with Microsoft Azure.
Proven experience automating cloud networking environments.
Strong Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
Experience with Azure networking technologies such as:
Azure Virtual WAN
Virtual Networks
BGP
Network firewalls
Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and experience applying them within an established environment.
Experience building end-to-end CI/CD automation for Infrastructure-as-Code deployments.
Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or equivalent platforms.
Experience managing infrastructure environments, configurations and reusable IaC scripts.
Experience delivering self-service infrastructure automation for application and product teams.
Strong understanding of network infrastructure across multi-region or multi-cloud environments.
Experience with one or more scripting or configuration languages, including:
Python
PowerShell
YAML
KQL
Perl
Ruby
Experience working within Agile, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe or Waterfall delivery environments.
Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and infrastructure testing practices.
Experience maintaining operational stability and enforcing security controls through Policy-as-Code and Infrastructure-as-Code.
