Backend Developer (Work from Home)

Role Overview The Backend Developer is responsible for designing, developing, debugging, maintaining, and supporting applications that enable network operations and engineering functions. The role provides technical expertise for both modern and legacy on-premises solutions while ensuring business continuity through reliable application performance and issue resolution. This position works closely with cross-functional teams, business units, vendors, and security stakeholders to deliver end-to-end engineering support, conduct root cause analysis, and identify sustainable solutions for operational challenges. The role also contributes to innovation initiatives by adapting to emerging technologies and continuously improving development practices. Specific Duties And Responsibilities Application Development & Support Design and develop backend applications to support network operations and engineering business functionsDebug, enhance, and maintain existing applications to ensure operational stability and business continuitySupport legacy on-premises systems to sustain service availability and operational requirements Engineering Operations Analyze application issues and perform root cause investigations to minimize service disruptions and recurring incidentsProvide end-to-end engineering support to resolve technical problems efficiently and effectivelyCollaborate with functional groups, business units, and vendors to ensure timely issue resolution and operational alignment Stakeholder & Innovation Management Represent messaging services during security-related discussions to support compliance and secure solution deliveryEvaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance application capabilities and development effectivenessContribute innovative ideas and technical improvements to optimize development and operational processes COMPETENCIES Core Competencies (Must-have Competencies) Backend Application Development: Ability to design, develop, debug, and maintain enterprise-grade backend applications using object-oriented development principlesJava and Python Development: Ability to build scalable and maintainable software solutions using Java and/or Python technologiesAgile and DevOps Practices: Ability to deliver software using Agile methodologies, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and DevOps practicesProblem Solving and Root Cause Analysis: Ability to investigate complex system issues and implement sustainable solutions that improve operational performanceSolution Architecture and Design Thinking: Ability to break down complex business and system requirements into modular, maintainable, and scalable solutions Complementary Competencies (Good-to-have Competencies) Cloud and Container Technologies: Knowledge of public cloud platforms and containerized environments to support modern application deployment strategiesAutomation and Infrastructure as Code: Ability to leverage automation, orchestration, and code management tools to improve efficiency and standardizationLeadership and Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively, communicate technical concepts clearly, and mentor team members toward higher performance Qualifications Educational Qualification/s Required Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field Preferred Linux CertificationAgile Certification Professional Qualification/s Minimum 3 years of experience in software developmentMinimum 3 years of experience in object-oriented software and application development using Java and/or PythonMinimum 3 years of experience working in Agile development and DevOps environmentsMinimum 3 years of experience in unit testing, code reviews, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and DevOps practicesExperience with source code management tools such as GitExperience with container technologies such as Docker and KubernetesExperience with stream processing technologies such as KafkaExposure to public cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCPStrong networking knowledge and technical troubleshooting capability WORK CONDITIONS Work Setup: Work From HomeWork Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM Philippine Time
